What is geocell slope protection?
Geocell slope protection uses expandable cellular panels to confine soil, aggregate or other specified infill on an inclined surface. The connected cells limit downslope movement while creating a structured surface layer that follows the prepared profile.
A geocell is one component of the complete erosion-control system. Anchorage, filtration, drainage, infill, vegetation and toe details must be coordinated for the site conditions.
How geocells help control slope erosion
Rainfall and concentrated runoff can detach and transport exposed surface soil. Cellular confinement divides the surface into smaller contained zones, helping retain infill and distribute local hydraulic forces.
Perforated cell walls may support lateral drainage and interaction between adjacent cells. The effectiveness of the system still depends on correct surface-water management and a stable underlying slope.
